In our post Knowledge Boost, we indicated that, currently, on average, professionals consume five times more information every day than in 1986, an amount equivalent to 174 newspapers per day, and the time we dedicate to online training has increased nine times in the last 16 years.

Are We Infoxicated and Hyperformed?

Infoxicated maybe, but over-trained NO. We are still at the threshold of 15% transfer to the workplace of the training programs provided by companies.

In light of this response, two reflections arise:

How can we monetize the information consumption of our teams so that they turn it into valuable knowledge?

  1. Let’s establish core topics for information consumption by specific individuals or teams for at least a quarter, that is, let’s turn them into thematic specialists.(The neuroscientist Adam Gazzaley shared in his book, “The Distracted Mind”, that “the highest level of performance is achieved when irrelevant information is filtered out”)
  2. These subject specialists must consolidate the selected information in terms of knowledge area.
  3. Let’s create system platforms so that knowledge can be collected, indexed, and delivered to consumers. (The other people in the company)
  4. Let’s establish recognition plans for people who generate knowledge based on the level of contributions they propose.

How can we increase the level of transfer of the training we provide to our teams so that they turn it into valuable knowledge?

Developing training programs where the participant’s effort for learning is greater by using methodologies like Flipped Training.

At Optimum, we believe that in the development of knowledge and in training processes, participants should increasingly be builders of content rather than passive receivers of it.
